our vision
We will provide a home from home environment which is safe, secure, and stimulating and encourages mutual respect between children, their families and the team. In turn, developing confident individuals who are successful in their learning whilst working in partnership with families and the local community of Fauldhouse enabling children to be responsible citizens and effective contributors.
our values
Each child will be treated as an individual who will be nurtured by a creative and passionate team to reach their full potential through individualised play and learning opportunities in both the indoor and outdoor learning environments and within our local community.
Each child is curious, creative and will be supported to inquire about the world around them whilst ensuring their well-being needs are met.
Children are encouraged to be active in their learning and are aware of their rights as a European citizen. They are supported to understand how the wellbeing indicators can support their learning and development. Children have access to, and are aware of the different types of play available to them everyday to aid learning and pique interests.
Our ethos is broken down into measurable aims which are central to the care that we offer and form the basis of our self-evaluation:
For all
Ensure that our children, our families, and our team’s rights to equal opportunities are met regardless of race, religion, gender and ability.
Ensure all service users and our team are treated with dignity and are kind, respectful and courteous to each other.
For our children
Provide a homely and happy environment where children learn through child led play and learning opportunities that are fun, educational and support skills for life and learning.
Ensure smooth transitions for all children with continuity and progression in their learning through Realising the Ambition, Health and Social Care Standards My support, my life, Pre-birth to Three or Curriculum for Excellence.
Nurture children in their learning to enable them to become confident individuals, successful learners, effective contributors, and responsible citizens.
Provide a nurturing environment to enable children to develop resilience and form secure relationships with the team and other children within the setting.
Take account of children’s prior learning and work collaboratively with parents, families, and colleagues in other settings to build upon this to tailor the care offered, consolidate previous learning, and achieve next steps whilst facilitating play and learning experiences which meet children’s individual needs.
For our centre users, our parents/carers and the wider community
Work in partnership with families to enrich the care offered by extending learning opportunities to include home links whilst ensuring personalised play and learning opportunities can be offered which are high quality, stimulate development and support children’s interests.
Promote and support continuous development for our team, ensuring training is current and includes relevant national policies, legislation, and current pedagogy and builds upon professional knowledge and experiences whilst ensuring the team feels supported in their roles.
Our early learning and childcare centre will be managed well by a childhood practice graduate taking into account relevant legislation and national priorities, to ensure it has a strong vision, is secure and works to achieve continuous improvement. In turn providing a high-quality environment for our children.
Establish strong partnerships with other professionals in our community including health visitors, speech and language therapists, the educational psychology service, and colleagues in local schools to ensure children’s individual needs can be met appropriately during transitions and throughout their early learning and childcare journey.
Establish strong partnerships with other services in our community including intergenerational working with our local care home and sheltered housing accommodation, colleagues in local schools, nurseries and playgroups, the team within the community HUB, forestry commission, the local library and partnership centre, local café, and businesses to afford our children access to these services which will enhance their learning opportunities.
Continue to develop our Early Learning and Childcare service through collegiate working and networking within the West Lothian cluster network.
