We offer nursery day care for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We have lots of bright airy indoor spaces as well as two large gardens and a beautiful outdoor Baa’rn. We are completely child-led and play based – affording our children choice and enabling them to spend their days in a varied environment. We use our spaces flexibly and understand that each child will move to our next stage at a time that suits them.

We open from 7am and close at 6pm for full day sessions. Half day sessions run from 7am till 1pm or 1pm till 6pm.

We are all about our food with all our meals homecooked on a daily basis. Breakfast, two course lunch and afternoon snack are included and second and even third helpings are pretty common! We support a range of dietary requirements and allergies. Have a look at one of our menus. (attached)

up to 24/30 months

We have two lovely spaces which provide our smaller babies with a happy and safe setting where they can have fun and build confidence. Babies learning through sensory experiences, so we have lots of exploring fabrics, pine cones, brushes and sponges as sand and water trays which more often than not are filled with a range of messy textures which our babies love. Our home-from-home environment with lots of cuddles ensures a gentle transition from home to nursery.

For our older babies we support their need to explore, become adventurous and grow their independence. We incorporate risky and messy play as well ensuring there’s time to sing, mark-make and relax.

Outside, babies have direct access to their own private garden away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger children which allows them enjoy the benefits of being outside throughout their day regardless of the weather.

24/30 months to 5 years

We have two bright airy spaces at the front of our setting where older toddlers and pre-schoolers are able to shape their play. We support curiosity, creativity and inquiry, allowing our children to gain independence both physically and emotionally. Again, all of our opportunities are play-based and child-led which allows our children to influence their own learning.

Our children have direct access to our garden and are able to free-flow between outside and in. Outside our children are able to play in our mud kitchen, practice their tree climbing skills, create from our loose parts and just chill out in our tee-pee. We have a gorgeous outdoor Baa’rn where our children are able to access natural resources to support their learning as well as learn how to use tools such as hammers and saws as well as learn to weave and whittle.

Both my younger children that had the experience of attending Sheephouse at a difficult time in their young lives were quickly offered a personalised restorative nurturing approach and curriculum that fostered their positive mental health, confidence, academic achievement as well as acknowledged achievements from their wider experiences and community. Sheephouse staff are skilled at a rights-respecting approach that encouraged both my children to find their voices and adopt self-advocacy and be confident within themselves. Sheephouse has been an integral part to both my children's overall development and growth. Staff are knowledgeable, approachable, skilled and invested. Best early education experience I could have asked for to lay stable and sustainable foundations for their future. My only regret is that I didn't find this Diamond of a nursery earlier for my older child to have benefited from the rich, high-quality education and care on offer.
